Join us in our call on the government to reverse active travel funding cuts
Together, we can make the government take notice.
Every day millions of people choose to walk, wheel or cycle to get to work, to go shopping, to get about their neighbourhood or to just have fun.Ìý
The impact of active travel
£36.5 billion
contributed to the UK economy in 2021
2.5 million tonnes
of greenhouse gas emissions saved
14.6 million
cars taken off the road
138,000
serious long-term health conditions prevented
ÌýÌý
Despite these benefits, hundreds of millions are being cut from England’s active travel budget.Ìý
These devastating cuts will see fewer schemes to make roads safe, less accessible pavements and crossings, and fewer new cycle routes.
It will make it harder to create places where it is easier for millions more people to walk, wheel and cycle in future.ÌýÌýÌýÌý
And thisÌýwill impact those who would have benefited most, limiting our choice to travel healthily, cheaply and emissions-free.Ìý
We need your help now to show the government that these cuts will cause a severe negative impact on us all.Ìý

Mat Shreeve
Less active travel funding effectively limits everyone’s freedom by forcing more short-distance car trips, and impacting long-term health as motion and movement are removed from everyone's every day.
If we're to continue to nudge folks to try and then embrace and love more active alternatives, some direction and commitment from the top would be welcome.
